The Frankis Family Origins

I have found 2 main groups of Frankis surnames over the last 150 years.  One group is from the Gloucestershire/Wiltshire area and the other are from the East End of London.  So far I have made no connection between the 2 groups.  Matters are slightly complicated by some of the Gloucester families moving to London including to Bethnal Green.  My family come from the East End group and were originally silk weavers.  So far I have traced up to John and Rebecca Frankis who were born in the early 1700s.

The Huguenot Connection

The much talked about Huguenot ancestry comes from Marie Breton who in 1771 married William Frankis, son of John Frankis.  Marie Breton was the daughter of Rene Breton who came from Touraine in France to escape religious persecution.
